Kelman Duran

Kelman Duran is a Dominican musician and artist based in Los Angeles, his sound is inspired by the intersections of Afro-Carribean music and contemporary US Latinx diasporic culture. Duran is best known for reinterpreting and deconstructing versions of reggaeton and dembow beats through the legacy of the black rebellion during the Haitian revolution to today's racial struggles.

Duran released his first album 1804 Kids in 2017, shortly followed by 13th Month in 2018 where he revealed a more compositional side to his music. In 13th Month Duran further explored sounds from his African heritage, such as elements of genres from South Africa’s gqom and Angola’s Kuduro. In 2019, Duran self-released a new 13 track collection title 6AM delving deeper into deconstructed reggaetón.
