Sharjah Architecture Triennial
The performance programme during opening days features new commissions in dance, music and theatre. In collaboration with the curator, Ma3azef presents a line-up of musicians both emerging and established, whose work explores unique and original musical practices. Varied musically and geographically, these artists challenge standardised rhythms, scales and meters, whether through synth patches and samplers, a capella performances, or centuries old rural instruments. These influential artists will give performances showcasing music that is decentralised, multifarious and unpredictable, grounding already existing practices and expanding the space for new ones. Ma3azef is an online music magazine dedicated to the critique and analysis of contemporary and classical Arabic music. Since its launch in 2012, Ma3azef has sought to develop independent critical discourse in Arabic and produce studied, bold and incisive long-form content.
