Françoise Vergès is an educator, intellectual, and antiracist and feminist activist. she obtained a PhD in political theory from the University of California at Berkeley. Among her many roles, she has been president of the French National Committee for the Memory and History of Slavery (2008–2012). She currently heads the French association Decolonizing the Arts.
